My strengths are in couples relationship counseling, relationship assessment, couples communication, and conflict resolution. My counseling style includes a focus on learning and practicing healthy relationship skills.
I also specialize in premarital preparation, and I often perform weddings.
I am a longtime marriage and relationship educator (I’ve taught on five continents), and I’m a Christian marriage pastor, but I am not a licensed therapist. If issues emerge such as mental illness, addictions, or abuse, I will refer the client to a licensed professional with expertise in the client’s area of need.
So many times when couples are in conflict, they act out in patterns that were unconsciously learned in the family they grew up in, or in previous relationships. Often these patterns are destructive and damaging to the relationship. My role is to identify the cause of the historical damage or deficit, help the client understand why it resulted in these harmful patterns, and teach – and help them practice – new, healthy patterns to replace the harmful ones.
