The Healthy Jesus

PRINCIPLE #3: “I NEED TO INVEST INTO MY FAMILY AND OTHERS.”

We can learn better manage stress, control priorities, live life to the fullest and fulfill our divine destiny by imitating the model of the “healthy” Jesus.  There is much to learn from The Lord’s human life as we study lifestyle and relationship principles from the Gospel according to Mark.

Mark 3:13-19

And He went up to the mountain and summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him.

13.       And He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him, and that He might send them out to preach,

14.       and to have authority to cast out the demons.

15.       And He appointed the twelve:  Simon (to whom He gave the name Peter),

16.       and  James , the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James (to them He gave the name Boanerges, which means “Sons of thunder”);

17.       and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Cananaean;

18.       and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.

PRINCIPLE:  Jesus understood His human limitations with respect to His time on earth, geography and work to do.  He also understood the need to create a next generation of solid students who would “take over” when He departed.  Had He had not done this, and had they not successfully done their job of ministry and multiplication, we would not be here today believing in and worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ this Christmas.

DISCUSSION / MEDITATION QUESTIONS:

1.      Read Matthew 28:19-20 and ask yourself how this process of investing / discipling others should apply to your life?

2.      Look up the word legacy in the dictionary.  What will by yours that you will hand down to others?

3.      Begin asking God in a season of prayer:

  • “In whom should I invest my life?”
  • What actually would I be trying to impart into their lives?
  • How do I go about doing this?
  • If you feel as though you have nothing to give to others, ask God for a new vision as to how He might want to use you to further His Kingdom.

Next Week’s lesson from the Healthy Jesus: “I need to exhibit appropriate parent / sibling separation and independence.”
