As I write, my son John is rebuilding our front gate and fence.
Paint peeled wood, weather worn and rotted can no longer serve its purpose so the designer is tearing down and rebuilding.
I hear the saw and the hammer; tools to shape the broken into something new and beautiful but also functional.
How fitting, Jesus was a carpenter, and we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for Good works that God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (Eph 2: 10). This reminds me of what God said to Jeremiah.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
If God has plans before we are born to use us in a certain way then he must shape us for is purposes.
How does he do this?
Well, Milan and I call it a slow miracle.
The fence was once a tree.
The tree was cut down, taken to a lumber mill and shaped into planks.
A truck delivered the planks to a lumber yard.
John purchased the lumber, brought it to the side yard and it lay there in pieces before it ever begin to look like a gate.
A slow transformation, step by step.
If you read the first chapter of Jeremiah, God reveals to him his purpose and the amazing truth that God set his heart on creating Jeremiah for this use before he was ever born!!
That is a sobering thought.
Can you imagine the Holy Trinity having this conversation about you?
No designer starts without a plan and the blueprints were in process before you even born. If you are responding to God He is shaping you and the end product is a work of art unique and different, a one of a kind.
You are a slow miracle.
You cannot yet see the end product.
The shaping is sometimes painful but freedom is the goal.
In Christ you are free from judgment and condemnation.
You are being liberated from the weight of your defenses and self protective armor.
You are being released from the prison of fear.
You are becoming like Christ; a unique expression of his artistic talent.
Set your mind on this truth…you are a miracle in the making.
Thanks for listening,
Love and Blessings,
Milan & Kay
