Are you confused by the way God is working in your life?

We did a workshop this weekend on How WE Love as Parents.

If you are a parent, you don’t want to miss this.

It will be available at the How We Love Online Store soon.

We had the seminar professionally taped and so the DVD should be great.

Look for it soon.

Now for today’s newsletter.

Are you confused by the way God is working in your life?

God is our Father and He works with us much like a parent helping us grow in our ability to love and trust Him.

Here is a great verse to ponder.

My heart is not proud, oh Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me.  But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
Psalm 131: 1-2

Perhaps you have weaned a baby that was not happy about your choice to withdraw the breast.

Were you prepared for the protest and the fight that followed?

Let’s think of the process from the babies (or toddlers) perspective.

Perhaps if the baby could articulate their thoughts it might sound something like this:

“Hey, what’s going on?  Mom, you have always laid me in your arms and given me
nice milk and cozy snuggles.  Why won’t you let nurse me now?  I want to nurse!
I’m confused.  It makes no sense and I just don’t understand.”

It takes time and quite a battle before the child can lie in its mother’s arms and not fight for the breast.  Gradually, the child accepts the change without ever understanding the reason.

David is describing this same process spiritually.

God works in various ways in our life in different seasons.

Like a baby, we begin to think we can predict Him and count on Him for certain things.

Sooner or later we are mystified, disenchanted and confused.

David has walked with God long enough to stop calculating how He will work.  Over time, God wants to teach us to be like David and learn as he did to come close and rest on God’s chest with out fighting or questioning when our Father’s ways don’t make sense to us.

Can you come close and rest in God’s arms when He has frustrated or disappointed you?

Love and blessings,

Milan and Kay

Next week: More sections of scripture and my thoughts from these verses.
